Senior Project Capstone
Prioritizing safety in co-sleeping while experiencing the joy and convenience of having your baby close at hand during the night.
Problem 1
At least 4 out of 5 couples reported severe crisis and stress in adjusting to the birth of their first child.
Problem 2
76% of parents co-sleep with their babies due to exhaustion and 40% admitted to sleeping in risky situations that can cause severe consequences.
Problem 3
In traditional parenting, at least one is a stay-at-home parent while the other works. In modern parenting, single-parenting has gotten common and dual-employed parents spend less time at home.
The question
How might we reduce day-to-day stress associated with newborn sleep routines among dual-employed first-time parents?
The opportunity
A foldable and moveable crib that blends in with the home atmosphere and adapts to various home spaces.

Exploration
Working on quick mockups for each concept gradually helped me visualize each mechanism in real life context using cardboard and fabric.

From Form to Function

DreamDock comes in four pieces...

1 - Unlock the handle by pushing the buttons.
2 - Lock in place.

3 - Deploy the frame of the bed by pulling the sides as the rest unfolds.
4 - Push down the wheels from the top and push down to release it.

5 - Install bedding and hook the safety mesh onto the sides.
6 - Prepare for co-sleeping, fold down either side where the bedding rests, a bendable wood that stays in place when folded and pops back up when pressure is applied.
